Artist Notes on Early Studio Work:

Before there were any exhibitions, dealers, collectors, or critics, there was an artist who thought of himself as the son of de Kooning, who would skip class at the University of Maryland and take the crosstown bus to the Hirshhorn, and then spend evenings having locked myself in the master bedroom which I had gutted and converted into an art studio, to spend it with music, canvas, and paint… These were the formation years of my artistry.
